Mental Health
Mental health services are available to all Butte College students who are enrolled
in a for-credit class and have paid the student health fee.
Services are based on a brief treatment model and students may receive 3-5 sessions
per semester. If more sessions are requested and/or required, we will work with you
to make a referral to a provider in your community. Services are provided by licensed
therapists or gradute level trainees.
When stressors and/or problems become too diffiuclt for you to handle on your own or with your natural support system, it is time to ask for help. The Mental Health Specialists can help students identify problems and teach and refine coping strategies. Some common problems may include, but are not limited to:
- Depression
- Suicidal thoughts
- Anxiety
- Difficulty adjusting to changes in your life
- Stress and/or time management
- Interpersonal problems
- Problems in relationships
- Grief and Loss
- Sexual assault
- Family conflict
- Sexual orientation and/or idenity concerns
- Concerns around eating
- Concerns about alcohol and/or substance use
To schedule an appointment call the Student Health Clinic at (530)895-2441. Appointments
are available in the Student Administrative Services (SAS) building in room 110.
Appointments are scheduled around your class schedule. In person appointments are
availabe at the Main Campus, Chico Center, and Glenn Center.
Appointments are approximately 45 minutes in length.
If your apppointment needs to be canceled, please cancel within 24 hours of your appointment
time. Not canceling an appointment is considered a "no show". If you are more than
10 minutes late to your appointment, a "no show" will also be considered and may impact
your ability to obtain future appointments.
All mental health counseling records are kept confidential and are not part of the student’s academic record. Clinicians are mandated reporters, and confidentiality may be broken when required by law. Confidentiality may be broken if client reports information about child abuse, elder or dependent adult abuse, active plans to harm themselves and/or active plans to harm others.

Title IX is available to support you if you or another campus community member are experiencing , or have experienced, discrimination or harassment, sexual assault, dating or domestic violence, or stalking. The Title IX Coordinator will inform you of your rights and options and will provide appropriate supportive measures to help you to continue to thrive at Butte College. - Safe Place & Wellness Program

The Roadrunner Hub Basic Needs Resource Center is a network of people and programs that offer students food and housing resources to limit the barriers to their educational goals and success. - Extended Opportunity Programs & Services (EOPS)
EOPS assists students in the development of their potential ability through academic support and financial assistance. The services of EOPS are designed to give students individualized attention and support to improve their chances for success. - Disabled Student Program & Services (DSPS)
DSPS provides support for students who many need academic accommodations and adjustments in order to have more access to their education. - Counseling & Advising
Counselors through Counseling & Advising are available to help you find the right level of classes, and assist you in designing a short or long term educational plan. Students can also receive assistance with academic issues, plan for graduation or transfer, and receive general academic guidance. - Veteran's Services
The Veteran's Resource Center is available to Veteran's and their dependents providing the support needed to help them transition into the civilian world and support their educational goals. The VRC also connects Veteran's to community resources and advocates.
